The Data Science and AI Institute selected three projects for its inaugural Data Science and AI Institute Demonstration Projects Awards. Two of the selected projects in medicine and healthcare are co-sponsored with the Malone Center for Engineering in Healthcare.
The Data Science and AI Institute Demonstration Projects funding program aims to accelerate translation of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) tools in critical applications, attract external funding and philanthropic support, extend existing partnerships and forge new ones.
These inaugural awards will provide support for long-term, high-impact translational projects that foster collaboration among researchers, engineers, and clinicians across the institution and potentially external partners.
These projects are expected to demonstrate the significant advancements that can be achieved by integrating data science or AI within research programs that already have external funding.
“We are excited to announce the recipients of our inaugural demonstration projects awards,” says Natalia Trayanova, Murray B. Sachs Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and director of health and medicine in the Data Science and AI Institute. “This program is a testament to our commitment to accelerate the translation of data science and AI tools in critical applications. Through participation in the program, the Hopkins community has shown an overwhelming interest in being part of this process. The selected projects will enhance transformative collaborations and drive significant advancements.”
