Rama Chellappa, a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of electrical and computer engineering and biomedical engineering and former interim director of the Johns Hopkins Data Science and AI Institute, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Azriel Rosenfeld Lifetime Achievement Award. Chellappa received this award at the 2025 International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) in recognition of his major contributions to the field of computer vision.
  
Chellappa’s research in artificial intelligence, computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning has had a profound impact on areas including perception for autonomous ground and air vehicles, biometrics, forensics, 2D and 3D modeling of actions, faces, objects, and terrain, as well as AI-based predictive models and diagnostic tools in medicine.
